Hi Gigabyte DS3 owners,

If you are using Windows 7 and the DS3 motherboard with the Gigabyte RAID Controller (I'm using RAID 0 with 2 250GB 7200rpm HDD's), you may be interested to know that installing the Gigabyte driver for your RAID reduces performance as compared to the driver supplied with Windows 7.

In my HD Tach testing, I found using the default installed driver with Windows 7 gave me much better performance:

437.2MB/s Burst Speed with DEFAULT installed driver (1.17.39.7 22.07.08 JMicron Technology Corp)

After installing the latest driver from the GB website and re-testing, my Burst Speed went down to 172.8MB/s.

I rolled back the driver, the system rebooted and performance went back to over 400MB/s burst and 97.4MB/s average read speed.

Something to consider if you have a similar set up.
