Berbatov has to start (he scored 5 times in this game last season)

---------------De Gea---------------
Jones--Smalling--Ferdinand--Evra
Valencia---Carrick---Giggs---Nani
---------------Rooney
------------------Berbatov

Subs: Lindegaard, Rafael, Fryers, Gibson, Park, Hernandez, Welbeck

Ferdinand, Jones & Smalling are all expected to be fit but who knows if they'll actually make it. Evans is out for 2-3 weeks now.

Reckon we will struggle to win vs Newcastle either a draw or they win, Without Suarez we create nothing usually and even if he is there at the moment all we do hit is the wood work so meh >.<

.

I was suspecting more along the lines of the above (glad to hear Rio could be back, I thought he was still missing), in which case Carrick still at the back and Giggs taking his place in midfield

Berba/ Rooney as the front two never seems to work that well, and SAF may want to rest Rooney a little more for the major run of games coming up end of Jan / early Feb (Chelsea, Arsenal and City all away within a few weeks of each other)

one thing I was thinking of recently - am I right in thinking every squad still has to have 7 home grown players in it? I know Raf and Fabio count due to the age they joined the club, but Giggs and Rio not available all the time (not to mention possible retirement for Giggs reasonably soon), Utd REALLY need some home grown talent to step up soon surely?

I don't think we've got a problem adhering to the home grown quota even ignoring Giggs;

Ferdinand
Evans
Jones
Smalling
Fryers
Rooney
Welbeck
Cleverly
Young
Carrick
Gibson

And that's without mentioning the twins as I'm not 100% sure if they're eligible (and I can't be arsed to look it up :p)

A big home game against Blackpool on Saturday. If we play like what we did in the 2nd half against West Ham we got a positive chance of getting 3 points.

Rumours of Smalling out for 3 months? Glandular fever? a bad case as i thought it would be only a few weeks.

EDIT: Woah, thats freaky Andy!

Expecting a tough game tonight. If we score I think we'll win but if we concede it'll either be a draw or a loss. For all the money spent on midfielders and strikers this team haven't got more than a goal a game in them.

Roll on January and 4 new players who can either pass, run with the ball, cross and/or shoot. Keep Suarez, ditch the rest.

I hadnt realised Evans joined Utd so young

Of those listed 5 are currently ill/injured, so thats probably whats been making it look a lot worse than it is:)

Im pretty sure when Utd originally signed them, it was mentioned that they would qualify, as would Paul Pogba if he is still around in a few years time

You honestly reckon we will get any one in Jan? I doubt we will as KD is 100% on the idea our sqaud is fine which imo it clearly isnt

Carroll will def start tonight atleast he gets game time now hopefully he manages to settle and score a few.

What is funny is we seem to do better when the odds are clearly against us
If Newcastle come with hopes of snatching a win and they play a bit open game rather than playing for the draw like the lower table teams have perfected against us. then any thing can happen.

I sense a result different from what has been happening to us at home this season. This time it may be a head line that Newcastle was unlucky to lose the game. They will out play us but we may out score them. i expect woodwork 0
