With all the furore over the Facebook/Cambridge Analytica scandal, do you believe that social media has been a network positive or negative on the world?
I honestly don't know what I'd do if someone used the word "addicting" in front of me. It's ADDICTIVE. Illiterate idiots.
As above, panorama documentary on tonight about the addiction qualities of social media.
I think Facebook which is using a real ID and has a like/dislike system is terrible, for the most part it's basically people posting whatever opinion will get them the most kudos and just not posting when they realise they have an unpopular opinion (self-censorship).
Twitter is not so bad because people can use aliases and aren't as terrified of posting something that will wind up with them getting socially castigated for the smallest wrongthink comment.
By and large it's a system that allows a false 'consensus' to form and then when stuff like Brexit and Trump happens all of those who thought they were in a massive majority become unhinged and push Russia conspiracies because they can't fathom why a censored/controlled environment like social media and reality are not the same.

The Senate Intelligence Committee has unequivocally upheld the conclusion of the intelligence community that Russia developed a "clear preference" for then-candidate Donald Trump in the 2016 election and sought to help him win the White House.
The assessment, announced in an unclassified summary released Tuesday, represents a direct repudiation of the committee’s counterpart in the House — and of President Trump himself, who has consistently rejected assertions that Moscow sought to bolster his candidacy through its election interference.
“The Committee has spent the last 16 months reviewing the sources, tradecraft and analytic work underpinning the Intelligence Community Assessment and sees no reason to dispute the conclusions,” said Chairman Richard Burr (R-N.C.) said in a statement.
"A body of reporting, to include different intelligence disciplines, open source reporting on Russian leadership policy preferences, and Russian media content, showed that Moscow sought to denigrate Secretary Clinton," the unclassified summary reads.
I mean for someone who posted
In the North Korea thread, it's a bit rich you accusing others of having a limited grasp on reality. It also shows you don't pay attention to what's actually happening, preferring to base your version of reality on what you think should be happening. (It's well documented that Trump A) doesn't take advice B) Shoots his mouth off without discussing it with anyone C) Contradicts himself and the official line on a daily basis.)
As for "Russian Conspiracies"

It's yet another annoying Americanism.

"Addicting" is incorrect regardless, but it comes from America. Just like "I could care less."Sure? I'm in the states and it's "addictive" over here.
Also if anybody has a better suggestion than Facebook which doesn't involve an APP where I can organise at least 5 other people then suggestions will be appreciated.
How about old fashioned email?
