Hi, I have an Asrock Dual Sata board and an Athlon 3700+ chip. This chip isn't supported by the bios version that was shipped with the board. I have dl'ed the updated bios, but the system halted error appears before i get to the command prompt, and am therefore unable to flash the bios. Is there anyway around this? The processor is recognised as an Athlon 3700+, but the revision is unknown according to the bios. Anyhelp is greatly appreciated.
Can you get into windows or does it come up with the error on post? If you can try installing the bios through windows.
The error is on the post screen, hence the reason i cannot get to the command prompt to flash the bios.
well u could send it back to the people that u got it off and say that the bios they supplied it with does not support ure cpu and could they update it for u, or if u know someone with a cpu u could borrow then u could update it otherwise i am sorry i cant think of a way of updating the bios.
