Hey guys,

Wondering if anyone can help me. I have a new Sony Vaio FS laptop. I recently re-installed a new version of windows I borrowed off a friend, unfortunatly im having trouble as im not using the recommended back-up disk Sony say you should create from the recovery partition on the HDD to re-install windows, thus I don't have any sony tools (Sony Recovery Tool) on the C: drive.

The recovery partition is still present on the HDD, however I cannot workout how to boot from the partition and re-install the Sony shipped version of Windows without and back-up disks as the recovery partion is hidden :/

Thanks guys

You should have created the backup CDs as soon as you received the laptop.

Try the VAIO support site and see if you can download and install the recovery application. If you're unlucky the Sony site will only offer an upgraded for the recovery application.

Failing that you'll have to get hold of the CDs of another VAIO owner or buy them off ebay.
