Help: Preparing to configure windows every time I shut down?

Hi
I have a Windows 10 (64 bit) laptop and for the last few weeks when ever I shut it down I get:

“Preparing to Configure Windows Do not turn off your computer”

This happens after it says shutting down on the screen and takes well over an hour every time and is very inconvenient as I can’t pack up until it shuts down fully.

There is no percentage like with normal updates so no indication of progress.

What is wrong with the system? I only use the laptop for my old Flight Simulator X and photos.
How can I stop this Configuring Windows?
Should I disabled updates?

No, one or more of updates were not installed correctly.

Goto Windows Update/Show update history (sorry, have non-UK OS, and translating oin the fly) and lok for ones that have problems installing or awaiting install.
Then try to uninstall it.
