What do we get over a remapped M235i (which is pretty gnarly as it is)?
A limited slip diff which you can buy for the M235i for £2500.
Hopefully you're also getting a lot less body roll.

It's the same weight as a Golf R Estate DSG with all of the Haldex system. Did they make parts of the M2 using Lead?! It looks great though.
Also, the Nurburgring time shown in the video is not that great when compared to some of the recent hot hatches. I assuming they did it whilst the speed limits were in force
For a track focussed car the numbers don't look great. Maybe the driving pleasure is off the scale.
I don't pay attention to nurburgring times, there is no consistency between manufacturers (I.e. some do them on semi-slick tyres) to even warrant a fair comparison.

Absolutely spot on.
The M2 though a great car BMW have clearly held it back massively, so I suspect rumours of both an M2 CSL and M4 CSL could be highly true, particular with M2 as it is so held back.
I suspect an M2 CSL will come with following changes:-
60k
Carbon Roof
Rear cage option
Remapped, lighter exhaust components, circa 400-425BHP, 400lb/ft
Further suspension tweaks
Lightweight bucket option
Carbon interior
Michelin Cup 2 tyres
Further improvement to brakes
Maybe other lightweight body panels (wings, bonnet, boot etc)
Option of AC delete, stereo delete etc. etc.
Though I do quite like the look of the M2 it just scream to me BMW have held it back, I mean come on 7:58 ring time, they could put Cup 2's on this car and bring that Ring time to under 7:50 quite easily with just a tyre change. If they bring a CSL edition can see it being around the 7:40 area and a real good drive.
Weak point though and I don't care how good modern turbo's are, but is still the engine. S54, S65, V10 the true greats now gone.
Think the M4 CSL is highly unlikely given the GTS as that hasn't upped the stakes massively in power and weight savings (despite pricing). More likely is the competition package. I think an M2 CSL is very likely though given as per my last post the M2 weighs only 2kg less than an M4 when both are in manual guise.
Better suspension, much better brakes, eLSD, wider track, wider tyres, less weight, improved lubrication system. It's probably no quicker in a straight line, but who cares about how quickly you can drive in a straight line?
The M2 is 40kg heavier than the M235i

looks an awesome machine and no way will it be heavier than the m4 and the lesser car its based on would be a silly move.
What's the point?
So what's left now, its it just an M7 needed to complete BMW M Model Bingo?
