Hi Guys, I recently swapped my E8200 dual core which was a great clocker to 3.85 ghz going through 400 fsb no prob to 440+.

using similar settings and have tried many others on my recently aquired xenon x3210 Quad, I cant break 399 fsb and 3.2 ghz. While this is my first attempt at quad basics should be same? Many reviews show 3.4-3.6ghz for most ppl but my pc wont post on anything more than 399fsb.

I have read the pencil mod may help?? thoughts/advice pls? No other hardware has been changed

thanks in advance

At stock the E8200 is 8 x 333 and the X3210 is 8 x 266 so you will probably need to drop your memory multiplier if you haven't already.

Make sure the memory is running to spec.

But as above it will help to know what motherboard you are running and cooling, voltages etc.

The X3210 is also a 65mn quad, where as the E8200 is newer 45mn tech dual core. It's likely to need higher voltage, being a quad and being on a bigger process, and for those reasons it is likely to be hotter too

The GTL settings for a Quad are more complex than they are for a dual core, they are also more critical. As has been said, we need to know mobo, ram and cpu stepping to be able to help further.

Hi Guys Thanks for replies

Memory is OCZ Reaper 6400 (Had this running 960mhz consistent at 2.3v)
Boards is Asus P5ke deluxe
Cooler is Asus Axe gold with 120mm

3x 120mm cooling (Front/back/Side)
OCZ 800w PSU

Intel Xenon X3210 G0 Stepping

Currently for the Processor at 3.2GHZ 399fsb @1.3v using similar settings to my wolfdale for other parameters.

Where im confused it that it wont post above 399 fsb. Tried changing memory strap etc plus others settings it just wont post +1mhz over 399 or more. Obviously i pumped another 0.1v into chip even to break 400mhz but no post.

Now i know board/components is good for 480/490fsb as it ran for a long while at this. Only thing to change is quad??

Help please as im reading most users getting 3.4-3.6 (440-450 fsb)out of same chip/stepping

currently idle 40deg and load 57deg
thanks
