    I have a partitioned HD with XP and beta version of Vista on it. How do I remove Vistas boot loader still allowing me to use the XP installation. I want to use the Vista partition for something else.

    hope you can help

    Search for boot.ini using the search facility.

    ;Warning: Boot.ini is used on Windows XP and earlier operating systems.
    ;Warning: Use BCDEDIT.exe to modify Windows Vista boot options.
    ;
    [boot loader]
    timeout=30
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP AUDIO" /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN /FASTDETECT

    It won't make any difference, the ; at the beginning of the line signifies that that line is a comment and not actually doing anything.

    i removed vista partition and bootloader last night, boot straight to XP now

    easy:

    go to folder option>view> disable Hide protected operation system files (recommended)

    in your XP installation drive c:

    delete "bootmgr" file

    reboot :)
