How do i run two psu's?

Yep, that shorting the other PSU trick is really the only method. Would start to get very dodgy if splitting 5V and 3.3V rails. Powering on the 12V isn't too risky though.

yeh thats the cable i got... although i thought that came with my PSU rather than my case... but to be honest i have so many old cables lieing around i dont have a clue where they are from

im just gonna power down now and try it

powers up fine... just created a RAID1 array on two new drives... forgot to install the RAID controller driver though... heh
