i've driven a 600+ bhp cossie on the road and there was no way you could use it on the road properly. Even when the car in front was far away you put your foot down and the next thing you know you have caught it up

Was it an animal to drive or still quite civilised, all things considered?

I like my clio. Its still pretty fast in my eyes even though I have gotten some what used to the speed. I dont have a need for anything faster, as going faster round corners than I do already is inviting death.

it was stripped out, caged up, noisy, smelly , idled at 1200 rpm BUT it was great fun driving a race car on the road lol :D. I don't think you could live with it as a everyday car.

I have driven a 500 bhp escort cossie that still has interior etc and that was easy to drive as a normal road car...you still couldn't use he power fully on normal roads though!!.

imo 350-400 bhp in a average sized road car is more than enough power for normal road use.

I've driven a 400bhp cosworth and it was rubbish.

Massive lag, handled like a dog and felt like an old car that someone had stuck a big turbo on.

Which is in effect what it was.

For me (having driven a good few fast cars) i would say that for the roads (which is the only place i intend on driving) i feel happy with around 200bhp/tonne. Any more and i feel that i cant use it all, and any less and you end up using full throttle too often.

Obviously this is a sweeping generalisation as it depends on the car's other characteristics.

See thats what I dont understand, just because you have a load over 200bhp/ton doesnt mean you cant use it. You just use it in 1st or 2nd gear more because obviously using it in 4th or 5th means you're doing stupid speeds.

Same but S2000. Really love how it is a challenge top drive fast, anyone can drive a 4wd Jap thing fast but hook some corners up right with a nice bit of rear end drifting and its :D Knowing that no computers helped you out and having fun with a engine that likes to rev.

Im the same with mine but without high revving engine. :p

I will always use all the power available though, hence me putting a limit on what i'd realistically put myself into next time. I will die in a car thats too fast as i have little self control.

My brothers escort rst now lights up in 3rd, in the dry with a quaife diff. I think it's more than "fast enough" for the chasis!

I'm actually quite scared of that car now. It's peaking at 25psi on a 2.1 zetec.

It depends on the car though.

I have been in 450 bhp escort cossie on brunters, and that felt like it could take more power easily, so probably not fast enough yet...

I said RWD ;) Doesn't take much to overcome FWD traction.

Fast in a straight line is boring, fast in the twisties is much more fun hence why I now own an Elise :)

Got it in one, ive test drove the 197 clio and Civic Type R over the last few days and you know what, neither make me want to ditch my Ford Racing Puma :)

Im a corner man ;) :p

Welcome to Honda, where the turbo doesn't exist.

It's actually quite good fun :D

Any comments about mod decisions then keep them to email, not have a hissy fit on the forums

Around 0-60 under 8 seconds, a tight suspension and an average of 40mpg would be my ideal setup. Unfortunately my 1.6 Leon doesnt quite deliver.

How fast is fast enough? Can't say in a car, not really a car person.

I brought a Fireblade last Sept and have only really started to ride it properly the last few months due to the weather.

Standard 97 'blade is about 118bhp at back wheel moving 180kgs plus rider sub 3 secs 0-60, got mine Dynojetted as I thought it wasn't quick enough after approx 1 months brief usage up to 128bhp at back wheel and i'm am once again bored with it and want something faster. Going to stick a full race system on it to shave 5kgs or so and add another 8 or so bhp then flog it next summer, got my eye on a priller RSVR.

RSVR wont be any quicker mate, far superior bike in evry way and much lazier delivery, but no faster ** looking at about 128 at the wheel, 135ish with a zorst and commander, get a gsxr1000/zx10 if your a straight line man.
My dad had an RSVR and I loved it, a real challenge to ride fast, but rewarding when you get it right, I'd love one but the insurance on a 600 is so much cheaper.
I'm a corners man anyway, a sorted chassis with sensible power and as little weight as possible. So Elise/GSXR600 for me every day! straight line speed is boring! craner curves flat out on a bike thats fast enough to hit it and drive out properly is where its at!

I don't understand this attitude; running a perfect quarter to a dialed-in ET is just as difficult as making a perfect lap.

*n

P, I've done the 1/4 mile thing to death.

I prefer the kind of race where the start and finish line are in the same place.

I dont think the debate is wether or not dong a 1/4 is hard or not, trying to lick your ear is hard, dont mean its fun!
No disrespect to people who like that, but I personaly find stringing a lap together far more satisfying. Each to their own I suppose.

What about rallying?
They dont start and finish in the same place but they have more twistys then you can poke a stick at :p
