My first number was when I was on Orange Pay-as-you-go which I changed between a few different handsets, but then when the iPhone 3G came out (July 11th 2008) I took out a contract on that and CBA to PAC my number over so I got a new O2 number for that.

Only problem with it is that because I was <18 when they came out the contract is in my mother's name (I couldn't take out a contract and doubt I'd have passed a credit check anyway) and I can't seem to find a way of changing the contract to be in my name now I'm >18 :(... despite the fact that all along the £35 p/m has been my money!

they were 4 digit codes ( 10 digit numbers ) my 0831 xxxxxx became 07831 xxxxxx
Yeah I remember when my Dad's was 0973 on Hutchison Telecom but then became Orange and then got changed to being 07973.
Still got one of his original handsets somewhere..

I got the contract my number came with when I was 17, so 8 years ago. I had a few different numbers as a teenager, but very few of my friends had phones so changing my number didn't make much difference back then.

8months, always change with new contract. keeps junk phone calls to pretty much nothing and with so many free texts I just send a text to everyone in phonebook to tell them of phone number change.

Like 6 months. Change mine pretty much every contract (changed networks for the last three). They've got easier to remember each time, luckily.

About 5 years I think since I got a contract. Still have the sims for the older PAYG phone's though I think.

No idea how old my dad's is but must be around 10 years at least, his is an easy to remember 0777 number too.

About 8 years.

Used to have a cooler number, something like 07759 9799xx, but didn't appreciate it at the time. My dad used to have an 0403 number, that expired too after not using it for about 3 months!

Been with 02 for about 12 years since they were BT Cellnet. My phone was a brick and the screen was so small it only showed two lines of text at a time. :)
