i need feedback for my digital filming web page

yeah perhaps the header is too big

need all the intro to be straight on the page, without scrolling, telling what the site is about and what it can do for people. so I suppose you have 500 pixel rows to do all that based on worst case scenario of 800*600 resolution. If people need more info then they'll start to rummage.

What you just quouted me on was me saying that the content size is fine.
It was not me saying 'it'll be that way because thats what i like' based upon my personal prefrence without the users in-mind, i base all my judgements on the user experience, hence me catering for 800x600 people.

If the content size does need to be bigger, then so be it, but personally i've checked it out with 800x600 thouroughy and it felt like it would be a nice site to use.

If however Martin does want a larger content size, then i have this for him

you've mis understood the point i was trying to get accross.

look, ill just repeat it for you.

If you notice, even at 800x600. you first enter the page, the whole top filles the screen, so you only are able to view the top image, and the summary.

This was INTENDED, because once the user scrolls down, he no longer views the top banner because that is the way i like it, and it's how it is going to be.

It's a way of browsing the site, if the user wants to view actual content, then he/she will then scroll down.. and once scrolled down he/she will want to consentrate on just viewing the content, since they have already seen the banner and can judge the websites looks ( top part ).

in other words, if the user wants to see some pretty stuff, they can. They just scroll up.

if the user wants to view content, they scroll down. Simple as that.

You're obscuring the menu. You're cutting off text. You're giving the eye nothing to look at when it first hits the page, apart from a setting sun and a huge camera.You're forcing the user to scroll. This is all fundamentally bad for this type of website. Infact I can't think of a situation where it would be a good idea to cut off the main menu.

Damnit though, i hate 800x600 people. Why cant they get with the times, it forces people with 1024x768 to decrease the visual experience.

Of course there are work arounds, like redirecting, but i'm not too sure how effective that is.

I'm 19, I've been working with design since i was 12 with an amiga a600.
I know photoshop, maxon cinema 4d, 3ds max, adobe indesign, fireworks and i'm learning flash actionscript 2 at the moment.
I have recently put up some few designs i've made in the past on my website (pdf)

Say wha? Design section has a portfolio link or two. Though I agree, need to revamp the site a little and put a portfolio box on the index and design pages rather than boring links.

You're talking about 800x600, whereas your design was halfway on 1280x1024. Cheat

The main headings are all available on 800x600. As well as the introductory paragraph and the menu. All clear as day.

Wondering if we should remove the banners at the top of each page though (the ones with the page title & info text on), or at least make them smaller.

It's funny how 6 months ago it seemed lovely, but now it seems a bit outdated. Oh well, might work out a new design for Q2 2006. We'll see

thanks, but i am ashamed of most of them, i learn new things every day with design, constantly evaluating my designs, and my past ones i am just not very happy with.

Oh and, i think you should include the thumbnails at the bottom of your page, instead of linking to it, because i found it hard to find.

Also, i don't quite understand the 'vida hosting' ??.. it's almost identical to your own website.. i'm not sure why you would host another website in the same job as yours (hosting)
