Hi, guys,
I own a asus gl502vs for 2 years now and the mobility is great but It really gets hot while it's on my lap, anyway I miss playing on a big monitor.
I would like to buy an AMD cpu-gpu or the Nvidia alternative if it's cheaper, I'm going for the best price-performance ratio, I don't care about RGB lights and fancy looking cases but I do appreciate a system with very low noise or non-existent. I was thinking to play on 1440p - 144hz, budget max 1500£, including monitor, I already have a mouse, just need the keyboard.
I did look on a few things but I'm not an expert. I appreciate any help, thanks in advance.

1440p at 144 Hz is a bit of a challenge on that budget.

Here's a starter:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,491.90 (includes shipping: £28.02)

Windows is more cheaply purchased elsewhere. And a decent starter keyboard will cost you a fiver or so from your local supermarket. The Ryzen 3600 comes with its own cooler which is entirely adequate, but you can spend extra on a better one later.

@Plec, @orbitalwalsh, and @tamzzy will be along shortly to refine it.

Bang/buck build:
ryzen 3600
arctic freezer 34
msi b450 tomahawk max
crucial ballistix LT 3200c16 2x8gb
powercolor radeon RX 5700 XT dual fan
sabrent rocket 1tb nvme ssd
phanteks p350x case
corsair rm650 gold modular psu
2x arctic cooling p14 pwm pst fans
Dell s2719dgf

Should work out to be £1300-1400.
If you want to spend a bit more, then can get the 3700x instead of the 3600. The 3600 is the bang/buck chip, the 3700x is the more "future-proofed" chip.

Hi,

I see the problem you have. You already reached the target budget without having all the necessary components.
In your case, it is smarter to go for an 8-core Ryzen 7 2700X. 8-cores is always better than 6 cores.

I know because in a year or two, you would return with complaints about the performance.

So, this:

Not for gaming it isn't. The R6 3600 is faster than the R7 2700X.

Also why the hairdryer gpu ?

The MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX is a better board.

That cooler isn't great either considering you can get the Arctic Freezer 34 Esports Duo for an extra £4 with dual 120mm fans instead of 92mm.

The Bitfenix Whisper 550W is a better psu for £2 more.

Why do you think that the MSI board is a better board?

vrms are slightly better and easier to flash (well here and reddit users run into issues but some good reading solves most ) . Aorus B450 would most likely require Gigabyte UK flashing is for the user or OCUK if they are building it. Though Gigabytes RMA/Support is far superior then MSI and based in UK - rest still quiet on RMA support in EU is brexit goes HARD as postage is effected and pricing goes up. ASRock currently asks for VAT to be paid , which is just weird !

better gpu for sound, performance and warranty. 3 years compared to everyone else's 2 ! at over £200 its a bit shocking ... vega was the same but good to see GIgabte and asus stepping up!

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £459.89 (includes shipping: £9.90)

^^^srp of the Gaming OC is £420 btw

He doesn't need to flash anything. Just take the Ryzen 7 2700X for now, and upgrade maybe next year IF something really decent appears.
By then, he would be with the latest BIOS on his Gigabyte B450 board, anyways.

TBH, I thought that MSI's boards are the worst, next to Biostar's.
Top ones are Asus, Gigabyte and ASRock.

The PC I am waiting on fills EXACTLY your criteria - however, including the monitor it was £2300.

I did go for 2TB NVMe storage, 3700x CPU, 2070 super GPU and had it built for me, and looking at where Id shave off to get in budget - The quote above looks pretty spot on. I picked up an AOC32G1 monitor for £30 less than the monitor quoted above (wasnt part of the build, I picked it up a coupe of weeks ago as my old monitor stopped working) - so have a look at one of those.

As for MBs.... From reviews Ive seen - ASRock are currently worse than MSi though Gigabite and ASUS are better. Its all about what you NEED on them though.

gigabyte z390 and x570 are top notch and x470 aorus 7. there b450 little behind in VRM but again they make up for it via customer service and rma etc.

valid point with 2700x- in theory due to its boost working correctly it would overclock 3600 NON X in its current form . AMD really need to sort boost out, specially with X chips

If I disregard the monitor from the budget, will I get better specs, how would that translate into playing Assasins Creed Oddysey, Metro Exodus, The Witcher 3 on 1440p, what kind of FPS should I expect everything maxed out, 15% increase from the already mentioned builds?
So let's say I'll find a 2nd hand monitor and the budget 1500 goes just for the components.
Thank you.

Plenty for your budget and for gaming to be honest !

bare in mind, Freesync monitors that can handle g-sync/nvidia cards cost more and g-sync monitors are about £200+ more then freesync monitors

Hi guys, sorry to be such a nuisance, are the specs presented already good to let's say change to a 240hz monitor, and are there any good monitors that you can reccomend at that high refresh rate?
For competitive gaming purposes, thank you.
