Good evening all,

I am having a issue, i have a Acer predator 1080p Gsync 144hz monitor along side a i5 6600k at stock due to the mobo being H170. and a gtx 1080. I am getting 100% cpu usage in a lot of games like bf1 cod ww2 infinite warfare ect. is this a bottleneck issue and should it be happening if i have a 144hz gsync monitor, a lot of games are unplayable right now due to constant frame stuttering, any help would be appreicated.

cheers

What's the rest of the system spec?
The i5 will be a bottle neck when paired with a gtx 1080, but shouldn't cause any problems really.. Have you tried running at 60hz monitor?

I have capped the frame rate at 60fps for Bf1 and my cpu usage sits at about 85% when I set the fps to match the 144hz monitor my cpu usage goes up to 100% and stays there solid I get terrible stuttering the whole time. I have about 50% Gpu usage in Bf1 and 100% cpu

Firstly , if your cpu isn't overclocked... Over clock it.
Secondly have all the settings on ultra if you haven't to make to GPU with 100%
Thirdly , render in-game resolution higher. There's on option for this on BF1, again makes the GPU work harder

He can't overclock, he's on the wrong motherboard for that.

damn, skimmed over that bit

would just pick up a cheap z270 board and overclock it - should be fine after that , following steps 2 and 3.

and i7s havent dropped down in price 2nd hand ... 4th gens i've sen them take a hit but still fetching £180 for 4790k

Thanks for all the replys everyone. I have all setting on ultra using Dsr as well as a different render resolution still the same issues. I have resigned myself to spending some money once the coffee lake 8700k official benchmarks come out I'll probably purchase a new mobo and that

Seems barmy to be advised to be upgrading from a 6600K so soon, its hardly ancient! Ive reinstalled BF1 today to try tonight as I have pretty much the same set up, I'll report back later.

G-sync stops tearing but for stuttering there are a few means - options wise

Is V-Sync off? Try V-sync on in NVidia control panel as well as G-sync but in-game make sure V-sync is off on their menu section
