    Hey

I am thinking about getting a Icy Box and was just wondering what people thought of them. My main concern is the speed issue as it is running though the USB interface? Just wanted to see if anyone had any opinions on them.

    Thanks

I wouldn't want to do any amount of real work off an external drive as the transfer rate is likely to be about 10-12Mb/s rather than the 45-60 you'll see from a decent ATA100/SATA drive. For backups, music, movies etc it's fast enough.

Having said that we managed with ATA33 disks which were slower than USB externals....
