Dont the SAS have a poem based on this??

No they dont LOL..... I was thinking of The Golden Journey to Samarkand (1913)

We are the Pilgrims, master; we shall go
Always a little further: it may be
Beyond that last blue mountain barred with snow,
Across that angry or that glimmering sea,

White on a throne or guarded in a cave
There lives a prophet who can understand
Why men were born: but surely we are brave,
Who take the Golden Road to Samarkand.

Sweet to ride forth at evening from the wells
When shadows pass gigantic on the sand,
And softly through the silence beat the bells
Along the Golden Road to Samarkand.

We travel not for trafficking alone;
By hotter winds our fiery hearts are fanned:
For lust of knowing what should not be known
We make the Golden Journey to Samarkand.

Etched into the clock in the SAS base in Hereford.

Have a picture I took on remembrance day a couple of years ago.

It is a great poem for the message it gives, you won't always manage to live up to the ideals but it's certainly a worthy set of principles.

Mr Kipling was also the owner of a very fine moustache appropriately enough given the month.

Yeah that's a thought provoking poem, Gilly. Allow me share one of my personal favourites:

Go, go Power Rangers!
Go, go Power Rangers!
Go, go Power Rangers! Mighty Morphin Power Rangers!

Go, go Power Rangers!
Go, go Power Rangers! Go, go Power Rangers! Mighty Morphin Power Rangers!

"Power Rangers Zeo"

Stronger than before! (Go Zeo!)
Powered up for more! (Go Zeo!)
Rangers at the core! (Zeo!)
Power Rangers!

Zeeee-ooooo

Higher they can soar! (Go Zeo!)
Fired up for more! (Go Zeo!)
Even out the score! (Zeo! Zeo!)

Go, go Power Rangers!
Go, go Power Rangers!
Go, go Power Rangers!
Zeo! Power Rangers!

I liked the white ranger best.
