Thats a huge drop for a Q6600. I'm in need of a completely new system. A Q6600 would be sweet. Thanks Intel, (or should I say AMD, for the ompetition.) :p

werd..I think I'll get a e6420 in a few weeks, then keep my eyes peeled for used Q6600s :)

I had a QX7600 which I ran at 3.6ghz tis was an awsome chip :D

However I couldn't justify the price

but this is the way forward.

I miss the rendering quad goodness not enough to send 650 but 350 bring it on! :D

hmm this looks tempting, replace my es6600 and put this in my media centre then build another spare with my 6300.

Will the std Swiftech kit handle an overclocked quad and ATI crossfire!

Nice to see OcUK on the ball and again it's looking like verifying the price range quoted...

£350 from an unreputable cheapo supplier
£375+ from someone who you can trust.

So to summarise : Q6600 for £350-£400inc.

The next question is whether you'd go for the Q6600 which is really a 2 x dual core hack and nothing more or splash out on Intels latest offering.

Nonetheless a quad core at that price is a blooming bargain.

As the road map above details, and to answer the earlier post. The QX6700 will simply become the Q6700, which will fit in between the 2.4 and 2.93Ghz QX6800, from memory the price is going to drop on the QX6700/Q6700 as well.

This is just another way of Intel continuing its assult on AMD. The clear winners are the consumers. So bring it on.

You never know, AMD might actually deliver on it's 'threats' to deliver a killer barecelona processor. Let's hope so ;)

waiting...

Chart is flawed, a few have been removed and a few added to the roadmap. :)

Can't remember them all but i do remember the q6400 being discontinued for the enthusiast and being kept for the low end quad+ core server market (aka xeon)

If you can stretch to it get the Q6600.

Oh and there would be no point in getting the E6700. Just get a E6600 and overclock it. :)

Its a very well priced cpu, i may have to sell my 29B E6600 for a Q6600, i'm curious how well my tt120 will cope with a quad especially when overclocked though.
