This is due to a not optimised code - there are many other applications where Ryzen 7 2700 beats i7 8700k with 30-40% and more.
A single buggy application cannot be a reason not to take the vastly superior CPU 2700X.

The DAW benchmarks use multiple applications including Kontakt which is a critical one for many people using sample libraries.
My system never comes close to being bottle-necked except for DAW usage so that is the only benchmark that matters to me.
So the other cases where Ryzen is better or worse have no bearing.

Makes sense - not much point going X299 with the fewer lanes the KL's offered, only 4c8t, no quad channel support, and can't even get to the memory capacity limits the boards offered - a pointless product all round.

Yup, they work a charm. I have a couple of them because they took so long to arrive I forgot I ordered them..
