Is a 360mm AIO not worth the extra over 280/240?

Hi all,

I'm tempted by the BeQuiet Silent Loop 360mm cooler and wondering if you think it's worth the extra over small sizes to cool an overclocked 8700K.

A 360 will keep the coolant at a lower temperature, maybe only by a few degrees. It's unlikely to result in a higher overclock though.

Ah I see, the 360mm version is only a tiny bit more than the 280. Was wondering it's potential due to Intel's shoddy themal paste.

Oh right, I thought the top is so restrictive that front mounting is better for overall tempeatures. I'm using a founders edition GPU BTW. Thanks for the advice! Also, case fans are in their stock configuration.

you're using a phanteks evolv innit?
that case is very restrictive so you'll never get the best temps regardless of where the rads are mounted

Yep that's right, been bit of a headache trying to optimise it for decent thermals haha.

Intel's garbage TIM will be the bottleneck for any better than average cooling solution.

Yeh I thought so, bit of a shock seeing how quickly the 8700K heats up compared to my 5820K

4.3-4 but required a F-Tone unsafe volts for it, even my 24/7 4ghz needed 1.21. I had a badly concave IHS, lapping it got temps down to a much more sensible level, 60c while running ADIA64, custom water 360 magicool rad with 800rpm fans and a EK evo block.
