Is BT Fon usable?

From time to time, while out and about, on the road I have used BT Fon - mostly for sending and receiving emails,
However, I have also occasionally tried browsing news websites - while doing this I have come to the conclusion that BT Fon is both unreliable and slow - I doubt that it would work with YouTube, Spotify or iPlayer for instance.

Does anyone have any experience of using BT Fon and can anything be done to stop it "dropping out"?

Not directly, you could easily measure the bandwidth that's available to you by doing a speedtest but that wouldn't necessarily give you either the speed of the connection or how heavily it's utilised. Ultimately though the experience you get will be directly related to the speedtest.

I've only used BT-Fon a couple of times, it came in very handy when I was somewhere with no mobile phone coverage and I needed to call home - I connected to BT-Fon and WiFi calling kicked in so I could make the call. The other time it was unusable so I gave up.
