i managed to find a hd4890 for £132, do anyone think its worth stepping up from a 9800gtx (not the plus version),especially for that price? or what other option would be better?

There would be no point getting a 4890 for that price you should get an 5770 instead.

A 4890 is a nice step up from the 9800gtx. Performance wise, the 4890 is wiser. The 5770 is another option at similiar lower performance level but is more future proof with it's DX11, and less power draw.

For £132.00 an 5770 and a mild overclock will be better value than a 4890, OCUK have a special 5770 @ £119.99 at the moment!

but isnt the 4890 is about 10-15% faster and its quite overclockeable itself? how does the performance of a oced 4890 and 5770 compare?

Yes the 4890 is faster than the 5770, if you run at 1920x1080 or higher then get the 4890, if you run at 1680x1050 or lower get the 5770.

    Not really...

x2 9800 would be a bit less than a 5770 on its own. and the electricity bills will go down ;)
