I've got a LiteOn SHW-1633 which was pre-installed in my Advent PC which has now decided that any DVD I put into the drive is a 'Blank CD' or the Icon just changed to DVD-ROM and nowt happens!...

PowerDVD/WMP/WMP Classic... None of em recognise that there is a DVD in the drive!?!.

Its an AMD 3400+, 512Mb Ram, WinXP Home System (SP2), with PowerDVD, WMP 11, WMP Classic (K-Lite Mega), LiteOn RPC 1 Firmware, Nero 7 Premium.

Do you recon the DVD has just given up the ghost!?!... It Records Discs fine (Well CD's.. Not tried a DVD for ages) or is there summut else that might be causing it?.. I've checked for Star(thinngy) again, which I had about 3 months ago and got rid of!

Should I bite the bullet just part with £35 and get summut else!?!... What Drive do you guys currently recommend??..

    Sim :(

My Liteon did exactly the same thing. I'm buying a new drive - anything but Liteon - soon, probably an NEC.
