Is my system bottlenecking?!

Hi folks!,

Recently I had to time to sit down and play some games!

Unfortunately, I started noticing frame drops on games that are over 4 years old with a pc built 2 years ago. In particular, I was playing Hitman: Absolution on maxed out graphics (1080p). Therefore, I was wondering if my pc might be bottle-necking, and if so what processes can I go about resolving the issue?

My PC specifications are as follows:

CPU: AMD FX-8350 @4GHz
Memory: 8 GB Vengeance pro series (2x4GB) 2133MHz C9 (cmy8gx3m2b2133c9)
Motherboard: Sabertooth 990fx
GPU: XFX R9 280X
Memory: Samsumg SSD 840 EVE 120GB (OS)
Crucial_CT250MX200SSD1 250GB (Game)
WDC WD1002FAEX-00Y9AO 1TB
PSU: Corsair CX series CX650M (650W)

I wouldn't say you've got a bottleneck as such.

Doesn't matter that you built your PC 2 years ago, that 280X is a rebrand of an earlier card called the 7970, which made its debut in 2011, and you couldn't get perfect frame rates on Hitman Absolution then either.
And your CPU wasn't on the edge of performance when it came out either.

Your system's balanced, but upgrading your GPU too extensively will lead to a CPU bottleneck, and switching your platform will be pointless.
