and me. The DC movies aren't Bond and they could be any secret agent type movie.

I prefer the gadgets, the humour, the girls, the sharks with fricking laser beams - if i want the parkour type of action i'll just to go Bourne or the twelvty other agent movies that are along the same veins and storylines.

Pussy Galore: “My name is Pussy Galore.”
Bond: “I must be dreaming.”

Bond: “Shocking. Positively shocking.”

Jack Wade: “Jack Wade, CIA.”
Bond: “James Bond, stiff-ass Brit.”

Honey Ryder: “Are you looking for shells too?”
Bond: “No, I’m just looking.”

Sir Frederick Gray: “Bond! What do you think you’re doing?”
Bond: “Keeping the British end up, sir.”

It just doesn't work anymore though. You've got to admit the older movies are mostly very dated. I'm fine with most of them as they have nostalgia value but I doubt many younger viewers are going to think a lot of them are very good

Same reason Carry On movies don't get made anymore. Cheeky double entendres and a raised eyebrow aren't enough to carry a movie now. Other action movies surpassed Bond long ago and Austin powers also helped contribute to the old Bonds demise.

And all of us have mobile phones that are more high-tech than most Bond gadgets!

Yes, maybe the chauvinistic comments won't work these days - but the gadgets? Hell no! Mission Impossible etc seem to use spy type tech quite well.

I don't know what the answer is, but DC just doesn't seem to be Bond and could the franchise has become just like any other spy movie.

I wasn't blown away by goldeneye, I found it fun but it grew on me especially alongside the game.
Live and let die was the first I saw, amazing to this day.
Connery didn't really make a weak one excepting never say never and even so better than many.
Dalton in license to kill(t) was extraordinary, arguably the best representation of the character on film.
ohmss is the best bond story imho and george was fine.
for DC spectre was the first time I stopped watching half way, watched the second half next day wish I hadn't.
Not the full story as Craig is good imho especially in casino and skyfall but after Spectre a lot is needed.

Obviously DavidNiven and Holness on radio seem a bit of their time.

Never Say Never again isn't an official Bond movie.

What makes a movie about james bond, official?

"Unlike the majority of James Bond films, Never Say Never Again was not produced by Eon Productions, but by an independent production company, one of whose members was Kevin McClory, one of the original writers of the Thunderball story, who retained the filming rights of the novel following a legal dispute over them."

Also Connery was way too old

Not sure why a different production company makes something unofficial?

By the way I already knew everything in the quote and remember the official unofficial debate during the films release I'd take it over an 'official' moonraker in a heartbeat!

I'll be prepared to be flamed here, but I haven't been very fond of the any of the Bond films from Casino Royale onwards, although I did appreciate the poker rounds in Casino as I play Texas Hold 'Em myself.

I preferred the older Sean Connery and Roger Moore Bonds as they were a bit more 'silly' and more action packed. My favourite out of the newer Bonds (1995 and later) was Tomorrow Never Dies with the media baron.

Indeed, Bourne was a gritty agent whi got hands properly dirty. Connery did this, once. Else bond was blazee gubbins, and we loved it, but the styel of film changed, and bond needed to change, casino was a decent film, gritty, dark eniugh, and even with the revenge angle it worked.
Been downhill since. Bardem in skyfall was awful, the whole concept of revenge and set pieces and timing was awful, up until the shoot out at the end, which was grown up home alone, and actually worked fine,

One of the biggest disappointments for me with the Daniel Craig Bonds was what felt like a complete waste of Christoph Waltz as a villain. I think he is a brilliant actor so I was so excited to see him as a bond villain but the part they gave him just did absolutely nothing IMO, he could have been so much more.

Edit - Didn't even realise this was a zombie thread (I probably should have guessed) :(
