LAN connection speed issues

On my second PC the built in network card (Realtek 1GB on a msi ab350m gaming 3 motherboard) has started to refuse to connect at 1.0gbps.

The issue started a few days ago and will now only at 10mbps

I have checked that the cable and port on the superhub 3 is fine, I can connect the same cable to my desktop PC which connects at 1.0gbps and move it back and then its down to 10mbps.

I have done the following

- Fully updated nic drivers.
- Fully updated Bios to latest version.
- Make sure power saving is off
- Re installed W10 (this is when the issue started)
- Forced to 1gb on the NIC but then does not get any internet at all.

So after this I am going with the fact the NIC has failed, the mother board has 2 x PCIE (GPU ones) and 1 X small PCI slot, the PCI slot is covered by the GPU so the only available slot on this in is the second gpu PCIE lane.

Does anyone know if any network cards that can use the GPU PCI lane? I have looked at PCIE Nics but these all seem to show them being used on the small, black PCI slots and none in the gpu PCIE slot so wanted to make sure before buying a new 1 that this is possible.

PCIe cards will work in any slot they'll physically fit into.

The second full-sized PCIe slot on that board only has x4 PCIe 2.0 lanes, but that won't matter for what you want to do.

Excellent, I thought that would be the case but wanted to double check.

think I’ll just order a new network card as nothing has fixed the issue
