I've recently bought a Samsung SpinPoint 250Gb and I've been amazed at how quiet it is compared to my Maxtor SATA drive which i'm still using as my main system drive.

Now I need more storage still, but I don't want to rack up 3 or 4 SATA drives inside my case. So is there anything as quiet as the Samsung but with a 400Gb+ capacity?

I've heard that the Barracudas are reasonable, but i haven't seen many reviews of the new 7200.10s..

    Ta :p

My Hitachi Deskstar, even with AAM off, isnt half bad actually, but I have a pretty quiet case.

Ahh well i've just ordered a SilentMaxx enclosure for my main SATA drive, then i'll just buy another Spinpoint I think!

Why don't they make a 400Gb+ version?

The samsung spinpoints all have a max of two platters to keep heat and noise down. So there aren't 400gb ones as it would be hard/not possible to make 200gb platters. As long as you can fit them in two drives can be more useful (less likely to lose all you data) and are often cheaper.
