Basically, every component has been picked bar the motherboard. It is going to be paired with G.Skill HZ 6400 (X1800XT & E6300).

I understand that the Allendale cores overclock better with the 965 chipsets, i am stuck between the following boards:

    Gigabyte DS4 or DQ6
Asus P5B Deluxe P5W DH Deluxe (even though its a 975)

I can either of them within my budget, but only require Firewire, no real need for Xfire, SATA and decent onboard sound is a must as i threw a sound card out of the basket and hopefully will replace with onboard sound. (DQ6 has good onboard sound?)

    I'm tempted to say DS4

It's a newer chipset, compatible out the box, better overclocker for your cpu and very stable.

I read strange things about the DQ6 on another forum but not read a bag thing on the DS4

also, the money saved with getting the DS4 could be put towards an xfi oem?
