Ok, received my Logitech G5 the other day... it's a great mouse. This mouse is *almost* perfect for me. The only thing that annoyed me is the middle click (when you press the scrollwheel) needs a good hard push - not good if you use tabs in firefox like me. There is a way to sort it though - install the latest Setpoint drivers from logitech and re-assign the left/right scroll on the middle button to act as 'middle button'. This makes it easier, but isn't perfect.
sorry for the n00bish question, but i'm a Logitech 510 user, and i only use Firefox too... but what has the middle mouse/scroll wheel got to do with tabbed browsing? is it just a G5 thing?
No its a firefox thing. Middle click a link and it'll load up a new tab. Also if you middle click on a tab it closes it. Have fun playing...
try using the G5 for a few days, the chances are it will loosen up a bit My 610 and 700 both started with stiff scroll wheel buttons, but both loosened up a bit after some use
In all the time I have used firefox I have never noticed that Saves me reaching for control or right clicking and selecting from the menu. Thanks!
I upgraded from an ancient Microsft optical mouse to a G7 this week and whilst the mouse feels perfect in every other respect, tyhe middle mouse button doesn't feel right. The old mouse was a very positive click, the G7 feels less certain. Perhaps it's the fact that the scroll wheel also tilts, and I need to get used to it. Only time will tell . . . .
