Does anyone know where i can get a animated desktop of the earth (the more detailed the better). Preferable one with day/night shadows, weather and if possible using actually data but if not a computer generated would be fine. The best proggy i found is called deskoverx, are there any better?

Had a quick google and found an old screensaver my gf used to like: http://www.fourmilab.ch/earthscr/

Oh and found a nice looking one here: http://www.geocities.com/drgportugal/essaver/ - EDIT: OK, this is a shareware deal screensaver, might not want it.

But by the sounds of it, it won't be detailed enough.

I know somewhere on the BBC site there is some distributed world software thingy like SETI, it's calculating climate change events and wotnot. If that's any use you can see it here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sn/hottopics/climatechange/moreaboutexperiment1.shtml

    You could try http://codefromthe70s.org/desktopearth_dl.asp
