Looking into getting one of these, and it looks like the official crApple one is a non-standard DVI fit missing the 4 pins around the spade connector on the right meaning it's only going to work with Apple displays. Handy.

Any 3rd party alternatives you guys can recommend? Or am I better off getting a DP to HDMI with a HDMI --> DVI cable?

    Cheers

Awesome, so how do I shoe horn the cable I've got home into it?

Is my one at home a DVI-I then?

They are easily available, just do a quick search on the internet.

Going Mini-DP -> HDMI -> DVI is utterly pointless, given how easily you can get Mini-DP -> DVI cables.

It was more the recommendations I was after, from people who had used a specific product. :)
