It turned out alright. The Spitfire was quite subtle at first but by the end it was starting to taste a bit too bitter for my liking.

Make your own stock if you're currently using stock cubes, trust me it tastes much nicer to have it fresh and home made rather than crumbling a cube into water :p

Something that I think goes really well is some peppercorn, either black or Szechwan. Peppercorns are commonly used in very similar foods in China and it adds a nice taste and not overpowering spicy tang to it.
