Memory + Lyrics

Why is that lyrics are one thing which stick in your mind for years and seem to be instantly recalled the second you hear those first few notes?

Just been listening to Eiffel 65's album Europop (first album I ever bought and fancied some nostalgia ) and the lyrics instantly came back to me for every track. An album I haven't heard for a good decade.

Yet ask me to remember my pin number and it's like getting an amnesia patient to remember the last time they farted.

I've always wondered this. I think it's something to do with the lyrics being connected to something else (in this case the music) If I just asked you to write down some song lyrics, I think you'd struggle a lot more.

For many years I have my 'Pokemon cards' that I put on my specially adapted mic stand and without those cues I'd be buggered.
I really am crap with lyrics.
