Sorry I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to overclocking and memory settings so any help here would be great.
For the past year or so I've been running 2 sticks of 2x2gb corsair dominator ram. Today I decided to upgrade a bit as my PC is becoming sluggish when I use a lot of applications for work. I searched and bought an identical pair but at 2x4Gb. Making 12 Gb in total.
The problem is when I installed the ram I noticed my memory was now running at 1066Mhz instead of 1333Mhz. I checked my BIOS and cpu-z and the cas settings are not at the correct settings either which should be 9-9-9-24.
The stickers on the side of the sticks are:
Old Pair: Corsair Dominator 2x2GB 1333Mhz 9-9-9-24 1.50V ver7.1
New Pair: Corsair Dominator 4x4Gb 1333Mhz 9-9-9-24 1.60V ver5.12
My best guess is because the new sticks need a bit more power but my old pair don't. My bios is only putting 1.50V into them making them slower?
Is it safe for me to manually up the voltage to 1.60V and manually changing the cas timings?
Many thanks for your help.
