YAY, I've been waiting for this to happen for ages, he is quite possibly the worst manager I've ever seen in the Premiership. But I'll miss his interviews which were always good for a laugh listening to him moan about stuff that he has the power and control to change. Good riddance I say, although the damage has been done, it would take a miracle for them to avoid relegation now.

Dam really sad Sunderland dont have the £ nor the players to have done anything in premiership shame Mcarthy has to go. He was just on spn live speaking to reporter from his BMW X5 leaving the training ground cracking a joke as always he is a good bloke.

To be honest i dont know why they havnt just kept him for Division 1 he brought them up before so he can bring them up again.

as a sunderland fan im devestated by this. mick was a good bloke, i like him a lot. he always told it like it was and i dont think he can be blamed. the lack of money is one thing.

the players always gave 110% for mick they just werent good enough.

he proved he could get us promoted, so why not let him do it again. i fear there are dark days ahead.

please god let martin o'neill get the job.

Who brought the players in?
Surely a lack of judgement on the managers part.
Buying players like Nosworthy and Breen is no way of staying in this division.

WTF is Kevin Ball?

hardest man in the world :p

he a bit of a legend at sunderland, captained us for years and was generally hard :D

vice coach of youth academy at the mo, well until now obviously.

i remeber when he hit his own bar from 40 yards, nearly the greatest OG ever :p

Whats the point in sacking him now? What is it going to acheive?

If they had sacked him 6 or 8 weeks ago they could have got the new guy in, looked at the squad, and perhaps make some signings that may make a differance to the team's fortunes. But they, didn't they waited until now. Fair enough.

So, having sacked him now you'd think they'd get a new man in to look at the squad, decide who he wants to keep and who can move on havng seen the way the play in a match situation rather than on the training ground.

So what do they do? Appoint a caretaker till the end of the season!

How stupid.
