Whats the point in sacking him now? What is it going to acheive?

If they had sacked him 6 or 8 weeks ago they could have got the new guy in, looked at the squad, and perhaps make some signings that may make a differance to the team's fortunes. But they, didn't they waited until now. Fair enough.

So, having sacked him now you'd think they'd get a new man in to look at the squad, decide who he wants to keep and who can move on havng seen the way the play in a match situation rather than on the training ground.

So what do they do? Appoint a caretaker till the end of the season!

How stupid.

They think the caretaker will do a similar job as Glen Roeder has done now for Newcastle. They should have done it at the end of the season or bloody months ago.

McCarthy has a rubbish track record and is just another souness. Sunderland have made another mistake by ditching their manager at this time of the season.

I follow Newcastle and have the associated dislike of Sunderland, however I will say this. I had and have a grudging admiration for him and his no nonsense approach and also it should be known that McCarthy had to sell players. I think with a decent budget, he will do a decent job.

The real spanner the works at that club is Bob Murray. As chairman, he has done nothing except build them a decent ground and I have to question what he hopes to achieve as Chairman ? He has no motivation, no passion, no personality and the get up and go of a dead sloth. He does not release funds, seek to increase funds or seemingly have any plans to progress the club.

He could do Sunderland a favour and step down or do Newcastle a favour and stay where he is.

Would agree with that site, but for the one huge inaccuracy "Murray has not given any indication that he is prepared to step aside, therefore frightening off any prospective purchaser."

Murray has said on numerous occassions that he is more than happy to step aside if someone is prepared to invest in the club, but no-one has stepped forward.

I have heard a rumour that there are American investors waiting in the wings if the club gets the go ahead to build one of the planned Super Casino's on the land next to the SoL.

Will the planned casino still go ahead?
A couple of years back there were stories that these huge vegas like casinos were going to spring up everywhere.
Expected changes in legislation didnt happen and casino plans all over the country were shelved.(baring one or two)

Newcastle did a deal with MGM to build one on their land at Gallowgate , got a £5m advance then embarrasingly had to pay it back.
