Hi , im upgrading my sons aging pc for xmas and feel i should upgrade his psu while im at it,main components will be:

INTEL Core i5 4690K 3.5Ghz (hopefully at around 4ghz) , ASUS Z97-P Motherboard & 16GB 1600Mhz DDR3 Crucial Ballistix, 1 x HDD 1 X SSD and ASUS ATI 7970

he currently has my (very) old antec 500watt psu,so i think its time i invested in a newer psu,the thing is i dont want to underspend on something underpowered but i also dont want to overspend on something thats totally overkill for his needs

So what units should i be looking at ? :)

Designed by Seasonic but outsourced to a company called Shenzhen Rui Sheng Yuan Technology who also make some of Superflowers low end units. See here for the full story.

The thing is that if you want something better you need to be looking in the £70-90 range just for a high quality 550w unit.

Id been looking at EVGA 650 W G2 GOLD 80+ units , but came to the conclusion that although a very good PSU it would be total overkill for my lads rig ?
