I'm currently running 6GB DDR3 (3x2GB) Corsair Dominator on a Rampage II Extreme,

a mate of mine has a 3GB DDR3 (1x1GB) Corsair Dominator kit he no longer needs,
my question is will this work properly if I add it to my system? Will both sets work in Tri-channel?

    Quick answer yes
Long answer, are the ram the same timings?
if so no issue, other than its harder to run 2 set than 1, if you overclock it may reduce the top line there. the proof of the pudding is to drop them in on their own, read the timings from cpuz if they match fine, if not set them all to the loosest set and give it a try :)

I'm currently using 9GB of RAM on the same board & CPU, working well so far
