mods and tricks to make games run snoother ?
Hi Have bought a laptop which should be here in the next few days.
1.86 ghz
1GB ram
X700 256 hyper memory
any way from reading around the net it seems like you can edit certain games to run a lot smoother when playing. I am guesing you edit the config file or something.
A member on another forum posted this in another thread when some one was asking about making farcry run smoother and he said.
"HL2 runs perfectly well on my laptop with everything maxed out.
Try entering this into the console before boot up "- heapsize 768000"
That allocates HL2 with 768MB of ram instead of the standard 64MB and makes a massive difference. Although if you only have 512MB of ram that won't work so try "- heapsize 256000"
My system is:
AMD Turion ML34 1800mhz (64 bit)
ATI Radeon X700 mobility (PCI-E)
1 gig ram
HL2 runs like silk on everything maxed out on my system"

Is this sort of code possbile on all games so you can edit the config file or something and allocate more ram for the game you want to play ?
I all so rememeber reading a post on here from a person who edited the game fear and could play it no problems with a not so great X700 card.
What confuses me is that if my x700 card is only up to 256mb how is it possible to add more ram to it to play ?
any help is aprecaited !
