MSI B550 MPG GAMING EDGE WIFI Vs TOMAHAWK ATX Motherboard

I see the MSI Tomahawk boards get recommended a lot on this forum wdue to its VRM quality but the Gaming edge wifi seems almost identical but has a more useful Wi-fi than a second ethernet socked. (not that i need Wifi right now as wired in)

I was watching this YouTube vid and it seems the VRMs are slightly better on the Gaming Wi-fi also.

I might take advantage of the MSI cashback offer with a Ryzen 3600. (Update to Zen3 later) Again a win for theGaming Wifi as it gets £45 cashback compared to £36 on the Tomahawk.

Am I missing something with the Gaming Wifi board, is there any known issues with it? The only problem I see is the lack of USB ports on the rear I/O panel.

Is there another better board at this £155-160 pricepoint?

It's mostly the X570 Tomahawk that gets recommended rather than the B550 version, I think, basically because the earlier lower-end MSI X570 cards were so sh!te

I watched that same Hardware Unboxed video, and didn't see anything negative about the B550 gaming edge, so if it has more features you want than the Tomahawk, seems like a solid choice.

Plus they are both the same price on OCUK at the moment, and the Gaming Edge has a higher RRP, so that may be another point in its favour?

Yes the higher RRP is another plus point, probably why the cashback value is higher.

I more likely pick B550 GAMING EDGE WIFI as I will be moving my PC and cannot be bothered to use wired lan.

Im thinking the GAMING EDGE WIFI , the GAMING PLUS gets a bit slated on that YouTube vid i posted.

Im still unsure whether the Shared PCIe4 lanes will be an issue later and I will regret not getting a X570.

I believe if you use a second m2 slot with B550, the second m2 will run slower.
