I've recently built a new PC around this motherboard and I noticed the other day that if the PC goes to sleep, when it wakes up the onboard fan seems to be struggling, for whatever reason, and making a sound much like a HDD. There is no HDD installed.

When I first switch the PC on, the fan will spin up and down without any problems.

Any ideas?

Thanks

That's a weird one. You'd assume that it's plugged in correctly because you say the regular start-up behaviour is fine. Which BIOS version are you on?

I may try upgrading to .15 but I wonder if it's an issue with the bearing perhaps...

I think you'd hear it on first boot if it was. Maybe it's sending a weird PWM voltage at it after sleep?
Possibly but I'm not sure how I would diagnose that. My main concern is that if the fan needs to come on during operation, whatever is causing the problem of it not spinning correctly may end up inadvertantly causing a bigger problem due to the heat.
