MSN keeps disconnecting/reconnecting since router installed Since changing my router from a Linksys wrt54gc to wrt54gx msn keeps disconnecting and the re logging in every few mins the only other thing that has a problem is betfair poker which does the same everything else seems fine any ideas ?
Try updating the router's firmware. If that doesn't work try disabling UPnP in your router and forwarding the MSN messenger ports manually.
thanks f/w is at latest will have a look around the router menus to try and do what you say any idea what ports are involved ?
Do you have DHCP enabled? If so make sure the lease time is not set to time out/expire every 5 mins or something.
checked that but was ok , thanks looks like you had the right idea , went to try this but UPnP was already disabled so I enabled it , still early days but seems ok so far thanks folks
my safecom cheapo router caused this, the only way I could stop it was by blocking the msn port thus forcing it to use http, no problem since then.
