Well i've tried various things to get my friends computer working but i can't figure anything out. (wont go past the load up before the login screen)

I'm wondering if it would be possible to install xp on the partition again, get it up and running, and simply copy the system files from the new installation to the old one... or if that's not possible, just simply get the computer running and transfer files to another computer.

Also, if this is not possible, could i possibly take the hard drive out, place it in my computer, and save the important files?

Cheers for the help in advance.

    Lee.

Your probably going to cause more problems for yourself if you try and install another copy of windows. What I would do, is take the harddrive out, put it in another machine and copy the important stuff, then put it back in the origional machine, format and reinstall XP.
