Right the Hobbyking order arrived!!!

However a couple of initial things I can't seem to work out.

NTM motors - why the long shaft that points down the way - what the difference between long/short shafts??

On all the videos/pictures etc - the motor seems to mount like this (nice neat wiring that you can fed down through the arm etc to the ESC underneath.

However - the only way the screw holes line up is like this with the wiring going off to the side which looks awful and harder to get underneath.

Am I missing something? It only will mount one way with wiring off to the side.

The long shaft is so you can use the collet type prop adaptors if you want. Not many MR builds use them, mostly for plane type applications. Pointing down is fine. I have long shaft motors on my 330 quad. The shafts are protected by the feet on the frame mostly.

As for the screws, there should be at least 2 that line up?

2 screw holes line up if I put them facing straight down the arm but just not the four. Will check again later but if the two were at cross positions then I might say ok. But fairly sure that only two line up they are on the same side of the motor.

FPV Alien X-Mode Quad

Been reading this for a while and thought id chip in with my setups.

Been flying FPV for a couple of years now, mainly planes i have
Bixler2 http://rangler.co.uk/bixler-2-build-3-finally-complete/
Penguin http://rangler.co.uk/penguin-v2-almost-built/

And an Alien X-Mode Quad http://rangler.co.uk/fpv-quadcopter-build-log/

The quad was originally using a DJI e300 setup but ive since switched to 750KV Tiger motors and 11x3.7 CF Tiger props.
With my Gopro3+ strapped on i can hover for 20 mins and have a nice fly around for a good 15minutes.

I REALLY REALLY want to offer this service! I currently photography for a couple of local estate agents on their large properties. Currently have a motorised tripod which can shoot from a height of 8 metres. These drone shots look ideal but having read up on it, it seems you would need a licence for unmanned aircraft. Not really viable as the licence costs are around £2000 but wouldn't that be a pretty cool job.

Would love to know more about this as well, im guessing the oem battery takes an hour or so to charge for only 5 mins flying time?

The 300mAh batteries I had for my Hubsan X4 don't fit. The 240mAh ones do though.
There's no parallel charger for these tiny cells. The best thing is to just get a few of the charge cables. A lot of the places on the bay give you a free charge cable with some batteries so you can charge more than 1 at once.
