Haha. The man on the right has his gun on his foot for extra height and it's still tiny compared to his mates'.

Where can you shoot rifles like that, anyway?

Yea I noticed that lol It might be the better gun for being more compact though. Does any worryingly obsessed gun fanatic know the names of all the different types in that photo

Gun laws in the UK are truly stupid.

Sorry but that comment is 'Stupid'
It's thanks to the strict gun laws in the U.K that we have one of the lowest death rates caused by guns in the entire world!!
Upsetting a few gun fanatics/owners is a very small price to pay for such an excellent reduction in loss of human life!!
They can still target shoot with airguns and also play airsoft, paintball, quaser/laser ....etc ...etc.

Actually, since the 1st Oct it is "illegal to sell, manufacture or import realistic imitation firearms within the UK". That includes airsoft guns. Why is that? Unless I missed the news where someone was killed in an airsoft shootout, I'm pretty certain all UK gun-related murders/deaths...etc were committed using real guns.
So to some extent, you could say that some of the gun laws here are stupid.

Well, martial arts laws here in uk are nuts... you can go into any "military hardware" store (and there is one here in brighton) and buy all swords of dangerous knives, even katanas, crossbows etc... but try and buy a wooden bokken / jo staff / training weapons and "you have to go to sports specialist store... law forbids us from selling those *dangerous* weapons".

As has been said, UK gun laws, while not stupid, are certainly over-restrictive.

I have shot a lot of guns from an .177 Airguns to AK47's and an M16 (Latter 2 in the US when I lived there), vi a lot in between.

It's notgun's that kill people, it's poeple with guns.

Educate someone to use them properly, and remove the worshipping of fifty pence and such, and you would see a very large reduction in guncrime.

Despite Handguns being illegal, it's VERY easy to get one. even where I live in Wales, i'd wager that I can have one inside a week.

Freind of mine in the States has a S&W .500 handcannon. The recoil is surprisingly manageable as the thing weighs so bloody much. Top fun.

I am sure it's a lot of fun, but what use is it? We have good old 1911s in the army, will do good damage for sure, but I wouldn't carry something that big for personal protection...

Theres a good reason for that too, it'd be quite easy to rob a store/person with a replica gun.

Get over yerself you silly woman !!

There are now more guns out there not legally owned than there ever was.
I lost thousands when i handed my pistols in and through no fault of my own and it was a typical knee jerk reaction againt a minority group .

Luckily we still have shotguns/rifles/Bp to play with ;) but the ruling on pistols should be reversed .

I'm sure you joined this forum to post tripe that is guaranteed to wind me up.

I'm guessing that you vote labour, have never fired a gun in your life, and get all your firearms information from the Movies and Government websites?

No it shouldn't, as you've said you've got your shotguns and rifles, be happy with that, theres no need for handguns when there is alternatives.

So Criminals can have guns (you will never stop them), but a law-abiding, educated and trained responsible user can't? Why?

Do some reading, and educate yourself before you reply with Idiotic tripe like that.

Handguns are not less likely to kill someone than my 30-06. The person in control of the weapon does the killing. Can you understand this? Just because some Nutter/Chav/Wanabee Gangster goes off on one with a re-activated display piece, does not mean every handgun owner is going to come into town and re-create the OK corral.

Cut the insults mate

My view is if the only people that have handguns are criminals then it makes it easier to prevent them doesn't it?

Obvioulsy, judging by these statistics:

http://www.gun-control-network.org/GF05.htm

Gun control has only one effect, it stops law abiding shooters from carrying out a perfectly safe and enoyable sport. Contrary to popular belief, criminals dont give a hoot if their *insert weapon of choice* is banned. They will still use it in their nefarious activities.

Like most gun related 'knee jerk' Government reactions any restrictions have little or no impact on crime.

Dave.
