Good point - this aint cheap ford spares we are talking about.

A downpipe might very well cost 140 pounds eh .... although whether or not it was necessary is the question eh ;)

I don't think you were ripped off necessarily. An aftermarket exhaust might well be only a touch more expensive but most garages would assume you want the original part to replace it. Also would an aftermarket one be any better? Maybe, maybe not. I mean, I could pick up a universal Jap style backbox off ebay for half the price of a proper one, doesn't mean its any good though :p
