Hi all,

I hope this is the right area to post in, please accept my appologies if not.

I have just purchased a Domain Name and want to set up an email server on my local NAS using this domain name, Can this be done? for instance would i be able to set up [email protected] on my NAS without having this being hosted externally first.

I know its probably quiet a broad question so please feel free to ask more questions (i am new to this).

Many thanks

Maybe worth it 10 years ago if it was something you were interested in.

You'd need a static IP.

If you don't want most of your mail to bounce you'll need an ISP that'll let you configure rDNS.

Even then many mail servers will bounce mail coming from domestic IP ranges.

Reinventing the wheel for the sake of it probably isn’t the best use of your time. Use GMail/Office 365 and move onto something else.
