Someone showed me this game the other day:

    www.nationstates.net

The idea is that you create a new country, and rule it according to your laws. It asks you to complete a wee questionnaire to decide your initial policies, and you're away. Every day you're presented with new 'issues' that you have to decide your nation's policy on them. It's quite slow paced, but I'm enjoying it.

My nation is The Democratic Republic of Hoffmansville. Post yours when you've created them!

I wonder if my country from a couple of years ago is still functional.

No idea what I called it.

I'm waiting on the (long-awaited) version 2 that is supposed to allow proper wars between nations, even if it will probably be subscription based.

I used to play the game with a few others on other forums but eventually got bored.

How could a country with huge levels of tax for the wealthy, no drugs laws and limited spending on law and order ever work?

All the wealthy and succesful people would move out, nobody would be left to run big business etc becuase as soon as they 'made it' they'd be taxed like crazy, and everyone else would be on drugs/fighting each other for drugs anyway :p

That's probably why the economy is 'fragile' ;)

Crime is relatively low, though, and the people seem to be happy. You can't argue with the facts!

You don't have to try and recreate the country you live in, you know ;)

I'm gonna give this another go for a laugh, mine is called The Republic of Urutu. Has anyone thought of creating a region for us OcUK'ers?

Urutu is a type of viper that lives in S. America if anyone cares.
