NCB and transferring

Gents,

Just looking for a bit of help, I've recently sold my car which had 6yrs NCB on the policy and I'm looking to transfer this to the policy on my truck which has 2 years.

The insurance company has told me these can not be added together and as such I lose my 2yrs NCB on swapping the policy. Now I'm not looking at getting a second car anytime soon but this seems a bit backwards to me?

Can any of you car boffins enlighten me?

The 6 years supercedes the 2 years, you cannot add them together.

If if was that easy to accrue NCB everyone would insure 4 bangers each to boost it.

For what it's worth, you've got two years to move your NCB to another car if you so wish.
