    Hi guys can anyone help?
My DVD recorder will burn dvds fine but it has stopped burning cd's. It just comes up with a write error as soon as it finishes buffering. I'm using Nero 6.

    cheers

most drives use seperate laser setups for cd and dvd writing.

no but i believe they use different wavelenghts to read and burn. At any rate, its entirely possible to loose one function and keep the rest. wether its loosing burning or reading:)

I have the NEC 2510a too, but mine still works (touch wood), i like it so much i got a new Pioneer 111D to replace the Pioneer 109 instead of the NEC.

I suggest look at the Pioneer, flashed mine to multiregion too.

This happened with mine as well. It wouldn't read or write CDs, and eventually I replaced it. I tried flashing the firmware, but that didn't help, and neither Nero nor Windows could detect CDs, blank or otherwise.
